THE EUCHARIST IS THE SOURCE
AND SUMMIT OF ECCLESIAL LIFE

“The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.” (CCC 1324)

“Christ, sent by the Father, is the source of the Church’s whole apostolate”; thus the fruitfulness of apostolate for ordained ministers as well as for lay people clearly depends on their vital union with Christ.378 In keeping with their vocations, the demands of the times and the various gifts of the Holy Spirit, the apostolate assumes the most varied forms. But charity, drawn from the Eucharist above all, is always “as it were, the soul of the whole apostolate.” (ccc 864)

The only reason this Eucharistic Convention exists is in response to our Bishop’s call to serve the Auckland Diocese, in offering Eucharistic teachings to those wanting to know more about the Mystery of the Eucharist.

BISHOP OF AUCKLAND,  PATRICK DUNN

It is our privilege to serve the Church in this way. For twenty seven years, apart from this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have organised a weekend convention dedicated to the promotion of this Eucharistic mystery. The graces that flow from such events are obvious each and every year without exception. I can only encourage you to consider attending one of our future events if the opportunity presents itself; it will be a weekend to remember. The Holy Spirit is very active over the convention weekend and He will be sure to touch your soul in a special way if you are fortunate enough to join others at one of our magnificent weekends.

DEACON MARK RIVALLAND

Teachings about the Eucharist will be added to this page throughout the year, come back often to check updates. Please contact me directly if you have questions about the Catholic Eucharist, or want more information about our annual event.
